May 28, 2007 - Hashlugradio, the revenge

Filed under: FLOSS, Media — Tony @ 6:00 pm

Today’s episode of hashlugradio, the podcast about the podcast, is an especially good one, because I’m in it! I was pleased to be invited back after last time, when I was half asleep during the recording. Fortunately this time around I was more chirpy and enjoyed the recording.

So, go to the website and download it!

May 2, 2007 - Ruby on Rails Community Resources

Filed under: Advocacy, Computing, FLOSS — Tony @ 6:27 pm

I’ve been learning Ruby on Rails over the last few weeks, but I’m new to Ruby, MVC and Rails so things are a bit hard going. Can anyone recommend (i.e. not just Google – I’ve done that myself) newbie-friendly Rails communities that I can get involved in, learn from and of which I can ask stupid questions? I’m thinking IRC channels, fora, real-life meetings etc. A group in the UK would be ideal, but I’ve not found anything yet and enquiries on my LUG list have so far not drawn any responses. If no such thing exists, is there any interest in starting a UK RoR community?
